What This Is
Vote on War is an independently organized, nonpartisan public vote. It is not affiliated with any government body, political party, campaign, or advocacy organization. Its sole purpose is to give Americans a clear, structured way to register their position on a single question: whether the United States should pursue an immediate ceasefire and negotiated end to its military involvement in the conflict with Iran.
What This Is Not
This is not an official government election, ballot measure, or legally binding referendum. It does not carry the force of law. It is a public act of civic expression — a way for individuals to be counted and for elected representatives to see, in concrete terms, where their constituents stand.
How Votes Are Collected
Each participant verifies their mobile phone number via a one-time SMS code, then submits their first name, last name, ZIP code, and vote (yes or no). All votes are associated with a ZIP code, which allows us to report results by state and congressional district.
Verification & Duplicate Protection
Votes are designed to be verified by mobile phone. Each phone number may only be used once. When SMS verification is active, a one-time code is sent to the voter's mobile number and must be entered before a vote can be cast. Additional identity validation measures may be incorporated over time. The goal is to ensure that each person votes once and that reported totals are as accurate as possible. We will be transparent about our methods and their limitations at every stage.
Public Reporting
Results are reported publicly in aggregate only — nationally, by state, and by congressional district. No individual names, ZIP codes, or phone numbers are included in the public record. Phone numbers are used only for verification and important updates and are never published. Individual-level data would only ever be published with explicit opt-in from the voter. Aggregate results and methodology will be published publicly.
Deadline
Voting closes Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern. No votes will be accepted after the deadline. Final results will be published and delivered to every member of Congress the following day.
