An Independently Organized Public National Vote

The American people
deserve a voice on war.

No American was asked before this war began. Vote on War is a nonpartisan, independently organized public vote giving every citizen the opportunity to be counted — for or against — on the question of continued U.S. military involvement in the conflict with Iran. An independently organized public national vote. Results are reported in aggregate by state and congressional district, so that elected officials can see exactly where their constituents stand.

Methodology

What This Is

Vote on War is an independently organized, nonpartisan public vote. It is not affiliated with any government body, political party, campaign, or advocacy organization. Its sole purpose is to give Americans a clear, structured way to register their position on a single question: whether the United States should pursue an immediate ceasefire and negotiated end to its military involvement in the conflict with Iran.

What This Is Not

This is not an official government election, ballot measure, or legally binding referendum. It does not carry the force of law. It is a public act of civic expression — a way for individuals to be counted and for elected representatives to see, in concrete terms, where their constituents stand.

How Votes Are Collected

Each participant verifies their mobile phone number via a one-time SMS code, then submits their first name, last name, ZIP code, and vote (yes or no). All votes are associated with a ZIP code, which allows us to report results by state and congressional district.

Verification & Duplicate Protection

Votes are designed to be verified by mobile phone. Each phone number may only be used once. When SMS verification is active, a one-time code is sent to the voter's mobile number and must be entered before a vote can be cast. Additional identity validation measures may be incorporated over time. The goal is to ensure that each person votes once and that reported totals are as accurate as possible. We will be transparent about our methods and their limitations at every stage.

Public Reporting

Results are reported publicly in aggregate only — nationally, by state, and by congressional district. No individual names, ZIP codes, or phone numbers are included in the public record. Phone numbers are used only for verification and important updates and are never published. Individual-level data would only ever be published with explicit opt-in from the voter. Aggregate results and methodology will be published publicly.

Deadline

Voting closes Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern. No votes will be accepted after the deadline. Final results will be published and delivered to every member of Congress the following day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this legally binding?

No. Vote on War is not a legally binding election or referendum. It is a public expression of civic will. Its purpose is to create an undeniable, transparent record of where the American public stands — a record that elected officials, media, and fellow citizens can see and respond to.

Is this an official election?

No. This is not organized by any government body and is not part of any official electoral process. It is an independently run civic initiative, open to all U.S. residents age 18 and older.

Why are we doing this?

Because no one asked. The decision to go to war was made without a direct vote of the people most affected by it. Polls suggest strong public sentiment, but polls are samples — they speak about the public, not for the public. This vote gives every individual the chance to stand up and be counted in their own district, on the most consequential question of our time.

How will votes be verified?

Votes are designed to be verified by mobile phone. When you vote, you enter your phone number and receive a one-time 6-digit code via text message. You must enter that code to complete your vote. Each phone number may only be used once. Additional verification layers may be added over time. We are committed to full transparency about our verification process, including its limitations.

When does voting close?

Voting closes Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern. Final results will be published and delivered to every member of Congress the following day.

Who is behind this?

Vote on War is organized by a nonpartisan group of private citizens. It is not funded by or affiliated with any political party, PAC, campaign, corporation, or foreign entity. Organizational details and funding sources will be published as the initiative grows.

What will you do with my phone number?

Your phone number is used only to verify your identity and to send important updates related to the vote (such as confirmation that your vote was recorded). It will never be published, sold, or shared with any third party. All results are reported in aggregate only — no individual names, ZIP codes, or phone numbers appear in the public record. Individual-level data would only ever be published with your explicit opt-in.
